The 2021 Greenhouse Gas Inventory documents all of New Zealand’s human-generated emissions and removals, covering the period from 1990 to 2019. Keith (2020): Parametric Insurance for Solar Geoengineering: Insights from the Pacific Catastrophe Risk Assessment and Financing Initiative (PCRAFI), Global Policy (in press) Exactly a year since his residency at Harvard University Solar Geoengineering Research Program, LeA's International Climate Analyst Penehuro Lefale and his Harvard colleagues, Dr Joshua Horton and Professor David Keith, announced the publication of their paper "Parametric Insurance for Solar Geoengineering: Insights from the Pacific Catastrophe Risk Assessment and Financing Initiative (PCRAFI)" in the respected Global Policy Journal, Durban University, UK. The paper is the main output from Lefale's residency.

Dialog on Climate Engineering in the Samoa Observer: "Climate Engineering is the Potential Game Changer we Need to Confront," by Penehuro Lefale, Samoa Observer, 18 October 2018 in response to "Geoengineering worsen climate and hurts Paris Agreement" by Fiu Mata'ese Elisara (11 Oct 2018). The dialog continued with the "Response to Penehuro Lefale on Geoengineering" on 21 Oct 2018. On 25 October 2018, the Samoa Observer published a response from P. Lefale continuing the discussion, "Climate Engineering and Game Changers for International Climate Policy."

At the "Environmental Dispute Resolution and Small States" Conference, 6-7 September 2018, held at the Wilmerhale Centre, Queen Mary University of London School of Law, Lefale provided a presentation on the 2017 State of the Climate Report, with input from LeA Affiliate, Dr. Howard Diamond.

Climate Alliances après Paris: The Potential of Pioneer Climate Alliances to Contribute to Stronger Mitigation and Transformation. We are delighted to announce another milestone for LeA International. This month marks the completion of our highly successful participation in a major international climate change mitigation and transformation research project “Pioneers Alliance for Climate Action (PACA)”. The paper “Climate Alliances après Paris: The Potential of Pioneer Climate Alliances to Contribute to Stronger Mitigation and Transformation” the first in a series of outputs from the PACA project was completed this month. A book made up of individual researchers’ contribution will be launched later this year. Researchers from Germany, India, New Zealand/Samoa, South Africa, France, Brazil, Chile, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Ghana were involved.

Living with Change: Enhancing the Resilience of Tokelau to climate and related hazards (LivC) Mission, 31 July to 26 August 2016. LeA International, together with staff the Office of the Council for the ongoing Government of Tokelau will be visiting Tokelau and Samoa from 31 July to 26 August. The mission is part of the LivC project (http://ilea.co.nz/resources/TokelauLivC_Issue1_Jun2016_final.pdf). The mission is expected to meet and discuss the project with people of Tokelau as part of the situational analysis component of LivC.

Review of the Pacific Islands Global Climate Observing System (PI GCOS): LeA International successfully completed this project this month. The final report was submitted to NIWA and NOAA GCOS Program. The Review of the PI GCOS Review is one of the projects funded under the US-NZ Joint Commission Mission on Science and Technology (JCM). The confidential report is available from NIWA and NOAA GCOS upon request.
